Expert Roofers ("we", "us", "our") operates expertroofer.co.uk, a UK roofing information and quote-matching service. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy applies to information collected through this website.

1. The data we collect

We only collect the data you give us through the forms on this site:

• Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
• Job details: the type of roofing work you need, how urgent it is and any description you provide.
• Location: your postcode, so we can match you with roofers who cover your area.
• Business details (roofer applications only): company name, contact name, area covered and services offered.

We do not ask for, and you should not submit, any special category data (such as health information). Our cost calculator and guides can be used without providing any personal data at all.

2. Why we use it

We use your data for one core purpose: to match your quote request with vetted local roofing companies who will contact you to discuss and quote your job. We also use it to:

• respond to messages sent through the contact form;
• process applications from roofing companies wanting to join the network;
• keep basic records of introductions we have made.

3. Lawful basis

Our lawful basis for processing your data is consent: you provide your details voluntarily when you submit a form on this site, and the form tells you what will happen next. For roofer applications and ongoing network administration, we also rely on our legitimate interest in operating the matching service, and on contract where an agreement is in place. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

4. Who we share it with

We share your data with as few parties as the service allows:

• The roofers matched to your job: up to three vetted roofing companies covering your area receive your name, contact details, postcode and job details so they can quote. They may not use your data for anything other than quoting and carrying out your job.
• Service providers: the companies that run our website hosting and form processing handle data on our behalf as processors, under contract.

We do not sell your data, add you to marketing lists or pass your enquiry to anyone beyond the roofers matched to your job. We do not transfer your data outside the UK except where a service provider processes it under safeguards recognised by UK GDPR.

5. How long we keep it

We keep quote request data for as long as needed to manage the introduction and deal with any follow-up, and then for a limited period afterwards for record-keeping and dispute resolution, after which it is deleted. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your query. Roofer network records are kept for the duration of the relationship and a reasonable period afterwards.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: have inaccurate data corrected.
• Erasure: ask us to delete your data.
• Restriction and objection: limit or object to how we process your data.
• Withdraw consent: at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
• Complain: to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have mishandled your data.

7. Cookies and analytics

This site uses minimal cookies. We may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages are useful, measured in aggregate. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of you. Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies at any time; the site will keep working.

8. Security

Form submissions are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and access to the data is limited to the people who need it to run the service. No online system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum, which limits any possible impact.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged clearly on the site.
